Compound Genetics’ Origin Story

Compound Genetics was created thanks to a genuine passion for cannabis in Portland, Oregon. Lynch, the founder, is no stranger to the world of cannabis. Raised in Portland but originally from San Jose, Lynch has been cultivating his green thumb since the early days.

In 2006, Lynch took his passion to the next level by growing cannabis after returning from a two-year stint in Amsterdam. During his time in Europe, he immersed himself in the diverse cannabis culture, which further fueled his enthusiasm for breeding and cultivating unique strains. Upon his return, Lynch and a friend in Portland founded his first cannabis genetics brand, Tiger Trees.

Tiger Trees focused on developing new strains, notably using a Chemdog D x Sour Diesel IBL male to create a collection of seeds. However, Lynch felt Tiger Trees was too niche to cannabis connoisseurs. This led to the birth of Compound Genetics, a brand with a broader market appeal and a polished, professional image. In 2019, Lynch moved to San Francisco and partnered with Node Labs to facilitate his breeding projects, marking the next chapter for Compound Genetics.

Compound Genetics Breeding Philosophy and Techniques

Their breeding philosophy revolves around stabilizing genetics to ensure consistency and reliability in every strain they produce. Lynch and his team meticulously select parent plants with the best traits, ensuring that each new strain inherits those qualities.

Pheno-hunting, the process of growing numerous plants from seed and selecting the best ones, is a crucial part of their technique. This labor-intensive process ensures that only the strains with the most desirable characteristics make it to market. By blending traditional methods with modern science, Compound Genetics creates strains that are stable, potent, and flavorful.

General Cannabis FAQ

Cannabis, often referred to as marijuana, is a plant that has been used for thousands of years for various purposes, including medicine, textiles, and recreation. The plant contains compounds known as cannabinoids, with delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) being the most well-known. THC is primarily responsible for the plant’s psychoactive effects, while CBD is recognized for its potential therapeutic benefits without causing a “high.”

Many countries and U.S. states have decriminalized or legalized the use of marijuana for medical use, recreational, or both. The legal status changes frequently as legislation evolves.

In the U.S., states vote to regulate marijuana use on an individual basis. While it remains illegal at the federal level, numerous states have legalized it for medicinal and/or recreational use.
